This past few weeks I have tried to incorporate some of what I learned about WV stained glass into my art lessons. One lesson I taught students about the history of glass in WV and then had students design a geometrical pattern. They used washable markers to color the shapes and went over the lines with a black sharpie. The students applied a layer of baby oil over the colored areas to create a transparent effect. The students were excited that they could hang them in a window to make the light shine through.

Great idea! I'm so happy to hear that someone has already applied what they've learned in our class to their class.
ReplyDeleteI love the connection you were able to make. WV studies is incorporated in all grade levels now.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea a lot! I'm doing something similar right now with my third graders using sharpies on wax paper. They are loving it...they were so engaged, it was dead silent while they worked yesterday.
