This past few weeks I have tried to incorporate some of what I learned about WV stained glass into my art lessons. One lesson I taught students about the history of glass in WV and then had students design a geometrical pattern. They used washable markers to color the shapes and went over the lines with a black sharpie. The students applied a layer of baby oil over the colored areas to create a transparent effect. The students were excited that they could hang them in a window to make the light shine through.

This week's class was very exciting since I was able to really begin to see my panel and how the colors would interact. My favorite part is grinding the glass, even though I sliced up 6 of my fingers I still enjoyed it. I can't wait to design my own panel. I am also continuing my lessons on WV stained glass with my classes. The pictures show a progression from before grinding to finished and starting to add the foil.
